Obituary

In Loving Memory ~ We are broken-hearted to share the loss of our beloved wife, mom and mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, auntie and friend. She passed away August 11, 2025, surrounded by her family's love and laughter. Born July 1938 in Saskatchewan to Duke and Clara Foulds, Mom grew up in East Van with siblings Ellis, Hughie and Diane. An active, adventurous girl, she played softball at the park across the street (sneaking occasional cigarettes with best friend Bunny), swam at English Bay and learned to ski on the North Shore mountains. That spirit of adventure carried her to Montreal as a young woman, where she met Dad (Bill) on the ski slopes. Married in 1961, they later returned to the Lower Mainland and started their family, son Gregory and daughter Nancy. Mom's life was a tapestry woven with creativity and warmth, activity and laughter. A great cook and gracious hostess, she enjoyed celebrating special occasions, often in outfits she'd sewn herself. A sailor, skier, curler, golfer, camper, traveller, reader, piano player, hockey fan and Saturday crossword puzzler, she loved her morning coffee strong and pre-dinner spritzer even stronger. Her genuine smile and playful humour meant she was never among strangers, her kindness touching everyone she met. Would she laugh at you if you tripped or, say, wore a neck brace? Well, yes. But then she'd sincerely ask how you were doing and offer you a baked good. Though illness stole more and more of her in recent years, Mom's sparkle never dimmed - she always had a smile to share. Her absence is deeply felt, but we're grateful for the memories we get to keep for her. A family gathering will be held in the future. We appreciate the kind care she received from staff at the CV Seniors Village. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of BC.
